A Study on the Physical Growth Saatus and the Indices between Physical Measurements of the Korean School Boys, Aged 7 to 10 Years Old

Abstract
The stature, span, lower limb length, sitting height, head length and head width of 430 Korean elemehtary school boys ranging from 7 to 10 years of age were measured biometrically¢¥ and. the indices among all of the items in each age group were calculated to investigate the physical growth status¢¥ and the indices between physical measurements.

The following conclusion have been obtained.
1. The average statures were 117. 590.42 cm in 7, 123. 960.46 cm in 8, 128. 540. 57 cm in 9 and 132. 130.49 cm, in 10 years of age group, and the annual average stature growth was 4. 85 cm.
2. The average spans were 114. 000.45 cm in 7, 119. 830.48 cm in 8, 126.06+0.59 cm in 9 and
_ I
129. 620.51 cm in 10 years of age group, and the annual average span growth. was 5. 21 cm.
i
3. The average lower limb lengths were 62. 580. 29 cm in ¢¥7, 66.79O. 31 cm in 8, 70.070. 36 cm in 9 and 72. 460. 32 cm in 10 years of age group., and the annual average lower limb length growth was 3.29 cm.
4. The average sitting heights are 65. 080. 25 cm in 68. 8910. 25 cm in 8, 71. 260. 30 cm in 9 and
72.320. 27 cm in 10 years of age group, and the annual average sitting heights growth was 2. 24 cm.
5. The average body weights were 21. 58-0.20 kg in 24, 750. 34 kg in 8, 27. 560. 41 kg in 9 and
28. 80+0. 40 kg in 10 years of are group, and the annual average body weight growth was 2.41 kg.
6. The average head lengths were 16. 470. 05 cm in 7, N. 750. 06 cm in 8, 16.68 -0. 06 cm in 9 and
16.820. 07 cm in 10 years of age group, and the annual average head length growth was 0. 12 cm.
7. The average head width are 14. 99--0.06 cm in 7, 15. 17-0.05 cm in 8, 15.31-¢¥-0. 06 cm in 9 and
15. 260. 05 cm in 10 years of age group, and the annual average head width growth is 0. 09 cm.
8. While the indices of both relative span and relative lower limb length were increased with age, the
indices of the relative sitting height were slightly decreased with age. The fact that while the indices.
of the relative lower limb length were increased with age, the index of the relative sitting height
was decreased, indicated that the growth of the lower limb length affects greatly on the stature of
growth by surpassing the trunk growth.
9. The relative body weight also increased with age. This fact suggested that not only the stature
growth but also the development of internal organs and muscles are remarkable with age.
10. The head. type depended on cephalic index was belonged to ultrabrachyoephal, and showed no
differencies with increasing age in all groups.
